Rainbow Six Siege Beta: 10 Big Things You Need To Know

5. Map Variety Isn't Great

Yes, with the game's title being 'Siege' it would make little to no sense to have hunt modes take place in open spaces, but there's a balance to be struck between sparse areas and claustrophobic locales. Previous Rainbow titles really understood that balance well. Whilst maps would often have big interior locations to assault and clear, often these would be counterbalanced by open areas with different levels of verticality. Of course it's cool taking a house slowly room by room, but after only playing for three days the novelty soon began to wear off. Rainbow needs the big maps as well as the small to make sure the formula doesn't get stale, but judging from the claustrophobic theme of the beta, this may be a criticism too late to take on board.
