Ranking All 151 Original Pokémon From Worst To Best
90. Horsea
Another Pokémon that benefited greatly from a) being readily available as a cuddly toy and b) featuring prominently in both anime and comic book, Horseas are very ok_I_suppose.
89. Parasect
Compared to Paras, Parasects make a major step up from irritating to battle, to genuinely impressively strong. Packs a lot of status ailments, which is bad enough, but also learns strong physical moves with a 95 Attack stat to back them up.
88. Oddish
Any 1st stage Pokémon (in a 3 stage evolution tree) needs to do something pretty special to break into the top 100 and, if you've ever used an Oddish in the game, you'll understand its inclusion. Considerably stronger that it looks, packs a really, really varied moveset and is cute as the proverbial button.
87. Golduck
Putting aside the fact that the Japanese translators obviously got the names for Psyduck (a golden duck) and Golduck (a psychic duck) mixed up, Golduck is one of Gen 1's better water types. Sadly overshadowed by how many better ones there are.
86. Arbok
Arbok was the perfect choice for a villainous foil in the anime as it looks, frankly, very intimidating. The fact that it was the only Pokémon in Gen 1 that was packing Glare also adds to its badassery.
