Ranking All Of Microsoft's First-Party Studios Worst To Best
6. Mojang
Notable Games: Minecraft
In Development: Updates for Minecraft, of course
Talk about the ultimate video game success story; Markus Persson built the pixelated open-world of Minecraft completely on his own for its pre-alpha release. That tiny indie would then go on to become a worldwide phenomenon, earning billions for him and his company, Mojang.
This creative studio has been relegated to a Minecraft resource now though - sure, they've made other games, but can you name them? The focus has always inevitably returned to this cash cow.
Persson was eventually bought out by Microsoft in 2014, who became full owners hell-bent on a mission to put it on every platform underneath the sun (even rival consoles the Switch and PS4).
As long as Minecraft stays popular, Mojang will stay busy and profitable, but happens when it isn't? Fortunately, Microsoft won't be facing that problem anytime soon.
