In the great Galaxy debate, people often go back and forth between whether or not the original was better than the sequel. While Super Mario Galaxy is undeniably one of the greatest games ever made, the second coming sits just a hair above the first.
So what exactly puts Super Mario Galaxy's sequel ahead in the footrace? Quite simply, it expanded upon everything that made the original Galaxy so great.
Remember all of those fantastically designed levels that were so much fun to play? Super Mario Galaxy 2 somehow got even more inventive with their ideas and managed to vary the platforming up even more to make one of the most re-playable games of all time. Also, there's the best power-up throughout both games, the Cloud Flower, and a Yoshi for your troubles. Yeah, this one wins.
Honestly, the only thing better about the original Super Mario Galaxy is the story... and who has ever played a Mario game for the story?!
