Ranking Every Bioware Game From Worst To Best
9. Neverwinter Nights
Following up Baldur's Gate was never going to be easy, but Bioware proved that they were more than just a one-trick pony with the release of their next role-playing epic, Neverwinter Nights.
Maintaining the D&D setting while moving away from the more methodical action of the previous game in favour of a leaner and more immediate combat system, the spiritual successor was the next step in the developer's journey to become one of the best RPG makers around.
With combat once again decided by an unseen dice roll, the unpredictability of the gameplay could have proven to be a bit too inaccessible for a wide audience, but for players wanting a dedicated D&D experience, it was one of the best systems of its kind.
It doesn't quite hold the same significance as Baldur's Gate, but with a newfound sense of spectacle and a wealth of content, Neverwinter Nights was an evolution of the D&D formula that took the classic tabletop concept and perfected it in an entirely new medium.
