Ranking Every Call Of Duty Campaign From Worst To Best

6. Modern Warfare 3

The narrative of Modern Warfare 3 was all over the place. Given the unenviable job of wrapping up the convoluted story of the past two games, this third title was the least consistent of the three Modern Warfare releases, featuring some of the series' best moments (RIP Soap) and some of its worst (the less we speak about the climax the better).

But while it couldn't quite hit the lofty narrative heights of its predecessors, Modern Warfare 3 more than made up for it with spectacular set-pieces. Between sieges on heavily fortified castles and shooting your way through an airliner that's plummeting back down to Earth, there was no shortage of creative sequences in this third release.

Despite acting as the culmination of three games' worth of story, Modern Warfare 3 felt a bit inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. But while it doesn't come close to reaching the quality of its predecessors, it still acts as a satisfying and worthy conclusion to this genre-defining trilogy.
