Ranking EVERY Fallout Game From Worst To Best
6. Fallout 4
When the first trailer for Fallout 4 dropped, fans across the world could feel a strange magnetic pull forcing their wallets open. After all this was the same game that we knew and loved, with a brand new graphics engine, a huge new open expanse to explore, and for the first time ever voice acting for our protagonist.
And yet for many it was this last feature that actually proved to be a root cause for a lot of this games problems. Fallout 4 is in no way a bad game, the action was spot on and the shooting mechanics had finally been hammered out into a decent FPS experience. The characters felt rounded and in the case of allies such as Nick Valentine and Strong, became internet darlings overnight.
However it was the complete reinvention of the dialogue tree that many held issue with as inestead of actually showcasing what the player was going to say, only gave a general indication of their intent. This lead to humerous and downright infuriating experiences where you'd act totally against the character you were trying to play. And when you're talking about a game with hundreds of hours of potential gameplay, that's a lot of instances where you're straying from your intended play through without even meaning to.
The pros are apparent; it looks great, feels better to control than ever before, and carries some truly impressive set pieces, but for diehard fans it was hard to overlook a key feature being downplayed in favour of becoming an action-oriented game.
