If you ask any fan what the best Kingdom Hearts game is, almost all of them unanimously agree that Kingdom Hearts 2 is better than any other game in the franchise.

Every element from the first is improved upon in a way that still hasn't been replicated since. The story- although criticised for complicating the series- is heartfelt, comedic, tragic and really develops Sora, Donald, Goofy and pretty much every returning and new character.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is also pretty lengthy, taking around 20 hours on normal, and even longer on subsequent critical difficulty runs, giving it much more value than other titles in the series.

The newly introduced Disney worlds are also a highlight. Pride Lands, Port Royal, Disney Castle and The Land of Dragons are all fantastic additions and the returning Disney worlds are even better than before, with Halloween Town and Olympus Coliseum being improved tenfold.

Best of all though is the gameplay. Whilst the original Kingdom Hearts was great fun, Kingdom Hearts 2 is so much more satisfying and fast. The introduction of Drive Forms is also a series highlight, giving Sora several powerful new forms and abilities. The Final Mix version of the game introduces so much new content that it puts the original release to shame, adding Keyblades, boss fights, cutscenes and more.

The soundtrack is masterful, the gameplay is perfected, the story is emotional in all the right ways and the Disney worlds are even better than before. Kingdom Hearts 2 is the perfect sequel, and the best entry in the series so far.
