After the cramped confines of the Spencer Mansion, the mere idea that RE2 was taking to Racoon City Police Department was utterly mindblowing. This game delivered as there was more of what fans wanted and the new elements were a welcome complement to the existing formula of Survival Horror.

Zombies get theirs in this game, returning in greater numbers to give that overwhelming horde feel. Graphically they've also been overhauled and no longer are they a couple of polygons, but comprise all sorts of unique, gory details.

Government cover-ups, a new Virus and enemy types such as the Lickers became the norm for the series, and it was all thanks to this second instalment shaping what Resident Evil could become.
