Ranking Every Modern Need For Speed From Worst To Best
8. Need For Speed: The Run
2011's Need for Speed: The Run was the final entry made by EA Black Box; the famed developer that took the series to new heights with titles like Underground, Most Wanted, and Carbon.
The Run focuses on the single-player experience as the protagonist goes on a race across America in a campaign filled with cinematic moments and blockbuster thrills.
From a gameplay standpoint, the tracks are well-designed and provide a healthy dose of challenge while vehicle handling is fine-tuned. Many of the game's cinematic moments will also be exhilarating for first-time players of the game. But this is where the problem lies as once you're done with the game, there's nothing left to do.
The Run suffers from a lack of replayability as the campaign features a lot of scripted events. At the same time, its single-player mode is way too short which makes the game not worth the full retail price.
To make things clear, Need for Speed: The Run is not a bad game, far from it. But its short campaign makes this entry more of a brief pleasure rather than a full experience and definitely not on par with Black Box's legendary efforts.
