Ranking Every Naughty Dog Game From Worst To Best
4. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
Speaking of culminations in iconic franchises, Crash 3 is by far the easiest of the bunch - but that's precisely why it's so moreish; so playable; so enjoyable to take in.
Every subsequent level comes with a fresh mechanic, set of enemies or incredible art style, as whilst Crash 2 certainly retained the challenge of the original, upon reflection you'll realise there are only a good four tile sets for all the levels to be made from.
No such thing in Crash 3, where the titular 'Warped' setup has Crash beamed off to everywhere from neon-lit futurescapes to ancient Aztec tombs, shining oceans to ride your jetski over and - best of all - sun-scorched highways where you'll fight other racers atop your motorbike for the win.
Crash 3 is emblematic of a confident studio firing on all cylinders, rolling together their time-tested signature platforming with a number of genre experiments that quite simply, work. The icing on the cake is Crash's new abilities - ranging from a jump-extending super-spin to a Wumpa fruit-firing bazooka - encouraging replayability to see which new paths you can discover second, third or fourth-time through.
