Ranking Every Neversoft Tony Hawk Game From Worst To Best
6. Underground 2

While Underground 2 was a direct follow on from the first instalment, the story doesn’t follow on whatsoever. Heavily inspired by TV shows such as Jackass, the focus was taken away from skating and focussed more on wild stunts and pranks. Due to the change, this game hasn’t aged as well as other instalments.
No real improvements to game mechanics were introduced. Wallplants were replaced with the sticker-slap and the ability to ‘tag’ surfaces with custom graphics to compliment the overall theme of destruction. Most levels offered a secret sequence of moves that when triggered, would cause destructive events to occur.
Another addition was the ability to unlock different characters, exclusive to each level. Each level offered a pro, a novelty character and a power assisted vehicle such as an electric wheelchair or go-kart. Each character would then have their own set of challenges associated with them and a team mission for each level.
Praise was given to the addition of ‘Classic Mode’, which offered players a more traditional experience. The ability to return to the ten-challenge, two-minute runs meant anyone not enjoying the story experience could switch over and enjoy the new levels without the silliness.
