9. Revelations: Persona

Metal Gear Solid 1
Atlus

Despite its winding and convoluted plots, Persona is a series that has picked up fans the longer it's gone on. But for those who've never played the original at all, the game has a fascinating premise.

A group of high school students gain the ability to summon Personas (essentially fighting versions of the Inside Out characters) after meeting a fortune teller. As it goes on, players collect more spell cards through their victories, adding more varied personas to their roster.

Revelations: Persona makes good use of the different viewpoint options to make up for the less-than-glorious graphics available during upon its 1999 release. Making your way through town is done top down style, while important buildings and dungeons are explored in first person.

This one may, for a lot of players, not be about reliving one of their favourite childhood games, but exploring the roots of one of their favourite series in adulthood.
