Ranking Summer 2016's Video Games From Worst To Best

2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Mankind Divided may be a direct continuation of Human Revolution, but being that game already saw Eidos innovate on the original Deus Ex formula of the early 2000s in all the right ways, it's more than a perfect sequel.

Protagonist Adam Jensen continues to be a walking Swiss Army Knife of transforming limbs and augmented skin textures, going from blasting groups of goons with a pressurised cannon, to leaping tall buildings in a single bound, disappearing entirely for ultra-cool stealth kills and deploying gas grenades from his elbows - basically, it's the Six Million Dollar Man on steroids.

For all the controversy-courting 'Mechanical Apartheid' posturing Square put behind this as some sort of well-written political and racial message, its characterisation and aesthetic is more Metal Gear Solid 4 than George Orwell.

One of the best-designed games in quite some time, with levels and A.I. that let you mix up a staggering amount of tactics on the fly, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is already one of the Games of the Year, but there's one that can still usurp it here...
