4. The Helghast
The Helghast are the imperialistic antagonists of the Kill zone series. Even though they are the bad guys, much like the Chimera in Resistance, they standard Helghast trooper is much more recognisable than any of the protagonists. Killzone is one of Sonys biggest franchises and a system-seller. All 3 Killzone games have been great, with some of the most refined shooting mechanics and unique, inter-planetary, aesthetics in any game to date. For a shooter the story is quite strong in Killzone with great voice-acting and some really good central antagonists. The Helghast have also proved marketable for Sony throughout the years, having sold t-shirts and merchandise like the Helghast helmet. The helmet is where the Helghast achieve its iconic status. The black mask with bright red eyes and ventilation tubes is slightly reminiscent of Darth Vader but with terrifying red eyes. Its an awesome design and really memorable. Killzone is a bigger, more successful franchise than Resistance and with two upcoming Killzone games its safe to say theyre only going from strength to strength. Shadowfall, the first Killzone PS4 game, looks incredible and is taking the series in a new direction. The Helghast soldiers and even logos are some of the most recognisable in gaming; therefore they earn a high spot on this list.
