Red Dead Online DLC - 9 Things Undead Nightmare Must Include
5. Undead Outfits & Abilities
The cornerstone of every online ecosystem, skins (or in this case outfits) are a developer’s cash cow when it comes to the business of the necessary evil that is microtransactions.
While the first Undead Nightmare didn’t allow you to transfer anything you earned back into the standard single-player campaign, it did unlock eight zombie multiplayer characters for you to be able to ride into the online sunset with. Undead John and Landon Ricketts were available, as well as various unique characters that were references to horror influences like George Romero and Wes Craven.
Continuing on from GTA Online’s model of having a set character that is customisable, Red Dead Online wouldn’t welcome a complete change of character. What would fit however, would be the inclusion of new items of clothing or even whole outfits, rewarded unto the Player after they had completed the story or series of challenges.
I’m sure it would be perfectly fine if these items were purely aesthetic that merely signalled to other players “Yo dawg, I done killed some things”, it would be a nice touch if they offered passive abilities like extra stamina/run speed or faster Dead Eye recharging.
