Red Dead Rebellion: 10 Most Believable Rumours We Want To Be True

8. A Prequel

From Revolver to Redemption we switched main characters from Red Harlow to John Marston, with the latter easily being one of the best protagonists the industry has ever seen. Some people - potentially nitpicking depending on your view - choose to say Marston's actions in-game don't always correlate with how he presents himself in cutscenes. It's the GTA IV problem (check out ludonarrative dissonance if you want to sound fancy), although it's pretty easy to assume that a reprisal of Marston in the form of a sequel would still be received very well. Rumour has it that Rockstar are setting up the most violent times of Marston's life for the main thrust of the narrative though, showing exactly what and who he was trying to get away from in his first game. In a way this could do a disservice to the events of Redemption, being that part of the appeal of his mysterious past was the very fact that it was so non-specific in the first place. Still, if the potential 'Rebellion' in the name is actually to do with warring factions and the eventual alignment with crooked sheriffs, that could make for a pretty sweet evolving narrative dynamic.
