6. Remember My Family
Straddling the line between side mission and epilogue mission comes the sole Jack Marston-exclusive endeavour.
Three years following the death of John, Jack buries his recently deceased mother Abigail alongside his father on the hill overlooking their home ranch, before setting off on a pursuit of revenge against the man that has caused his family so much harm, Edgar Ross.
Jack starts his search talking to a Bureau agent, subsequently getting pointed in the directions of Ross' wife Emily and then his brother Phillip, before finally finding Edgar hunting by the San Luis River. The two have a heated exchange in which Ross shows no remorse and Marston shows nothing but contempt. They then duel where Marston can (satisfyingly) empty his entire revolver into Ross, finally getting retribution for his family.
Or does he?
John and Abigail had both spent years pushing Jack towards books and education, valiantly trying to get him to avoid the life they lived (which would become more apparent in RDR 2) only for him turn to the outlaw life anyway. Jack himself may even be aware of it, after shooting Ross, he glances down at his gun, perhaps realising that this may not have been what his father wanted.
