Red Dead Redemption: 10 Darkest Stranger Missions
4. Aztec Gold
In the southern Punta Orgullo area of Sidewinder Gulch, Marston will come across the intrepid adventurer Basilio, a proud man on the hunt for his family's hidden gold treasure that dates back to the Aztec times.
Conceding that he is not quite up to the level of Martson, Basilio enlists the player's help in finding his lost fortune. After a quick exploration of the area seeking fragments of the map, Marston will reconvene will Basilio who will excitedly bolt for the nearby caves.
Marston will give chase, eventually finding Basilio on all fours frantically searching through the dirt. The pair soon find a buried chest which causes Basilio to cry out in elation, declaring that the treasure means no more poverty or financial struggles (suggesting that the hunt was more out of a want for financial gain as opposed to family heritage).
However, opening the chest reveals it to be empty. Basilio seems to go through the first fives stages of grief in seconds as he desperately tries to make sense of the situation as the realisation quickly sets in.
Basilio is crushed, weeping that his ten year search for the gold has all been for naught. Distraught, Basilio flees the cave, never to be seen again.
