Red Dead Online is absolutely going to be a huge part of Red Dead Redemption 2. To be fully realised, it needs to take some aspects from Grand Theft Auto Online.

One of these features is the presence of gangs. Although GTA Online didn't really capitalise on it all too much, Red Dead Online needs to make it a much bigger focus. Gangs make perfect sense for the world and story of Red Dead and tying this into the gameplay somehow would only amplify this.

The open world of RDR Online could have an ongoing faction war, similar to For Honor. Rather than having it play out on a map, it should be visible in the game world itself. Riding through different parts of the map could be dangerous depending on the gang you represent, making the choice feel truly important. Players could even choose to be a lone wolf and fight on their own and could even be hired to take out individual gang members for money.

Whether players choice to be a part of a gang or not, their importance to Red Dead Online should be felt. It shouldn't just be an emblem and some occasional XP.
