Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Leaked Details You Need To Know
4. There Are '5 Zones' To The Game/Map Overall
Nothing more to this than the statement of "spanning five zones", though just looking at the trailer, there is a lot to pick apart.
Firstly it's up for debate as to what constitutes a 'zone' in the first place. By my assumption, RDR1 had two: Mexico and the New Austin combination of Gaptooth Ridge, Rio Bravo, Cholla Springs and Hennigan's Stead. Redemption 2's trailer at least includes a return to what looks like the mountainous Tall Trees region where Dutch later gets killed, and there's potential for the town of Blackwater being constructed, too.
However, with so many characters crossing over into the period of RDR1 and with the late 1800s/early 1900s being the most important time in American history (the death of the 'old west' and the rise of industry), there's every possibility the game takes place across multiple timelines.
A prominent rumour earlier in 2017 stated that the original map for Red Dead would also be included "inside" RDR2, and Rockstar are indeed no stranger to including chunks of their games in future works (see GTA III's Marco's Bistro in one of San Andreas' missions).
