Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Things You Must Do First
3. Make A Manual Save & Use It Often
RDR2 has a pretty solid autosave system, ensuring you're never too far from a checkpoint if you fail a mission, die or have a power outage, but it's also a good idea to make your own manual save in the story menu.
This is especially useful if you wish to undo an undesirable event - namely the death of your horse or a moral crossroads that didn't quite go swimmingly - and though it's glorified save scumming, it's an absolute must for more obsessive compulsive players.
Like many of the recommendations here, it's something worth getting into the habit of doing early, as it'll then become second nature.
