Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Ways Rockstar MUST Do Single Player DLC
8. Young John & Arthur
Quite a lot is made throughout the game of Arthur and John’s relationship as they grew up. As brothers from other mothers (and fathers) they’re the closest family each other have ever known, along with Dutch & Hosea as their paternal influences.
That kind of connection breeds contempt as much as it does love and respect. Toss in their age difference, Arthur’s perceived difference in how the pair are treated plus the poor circumstances which brought them together, and it’s a powder keg. By the end of the game, Arthur grows to see John as his closest friend: his brother.
His resentment towards John is clear to see throughout though, and as a result we get a fairly one sided view of the relationship.
Taking us back through time to a simpler era for the gang with Arthur and John each standing on the border between boys and men could add more context to their adult lives, reframe their relationship and solidify for players just how deep the ties which bind the two cowpokes go.
Of course, taking DLC back in time would mean seeing not just John & Arthur in a new light...
