Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Ways Rockstar MUST Do Single Player DLC
7. Arthur’s New Life
Of course, if they’re going to go non-canon with it, why not offer a happy ending instead? Not as an alternative to Arthur’s tragic fate - the compelling ending shouldn’t be messed with - but as more of a ‘what if’ scenario.
Whether this be by the gang actually reaching Tahiti or by having Arthur successfully flee the gang are both distinct possibilities. An extra setting may seem like a lot of extra work, but Guarma’s assets could be a stand in for Tahiti, and parts of the main map could be rejigged to trick us into thinking it’s an entirely new area.
It could even just be a timeline where Arthur recovers from his tuberculosis and instead gets to grow old in relative peace in the lands he’s always known. Although Arthur wouldn’t agree, he definitely deserves a happy ending, but all the game really provides him with is a bittersweet one.
Perhaps a DLC can offer us a chance to slip into his shoes again under less tragic circumstances.
