Red Dead Redemption 2: 11 Most Shocking Story Moments
3. John And Dutch Kill Micah
Regardless of how random it may have been for Dutch to appear in the conclusion of Red Dead 2's epilogue, there's no denying the moment he finally, belatedly, shot Micah, made for one of the most shocking (and satisfying) moments from its story.
The entire closing act is something of a mixed bag, but it all comes together magnificently in this mountain-top sequence. The determination from John, Charles and Sadie to track Micah down is palpable, and by the time Marston comes face to face with the villain, there's a genuine fear that both of his allies could die.
Enter Dutch, who holds John - once considered his own son - at gunpoint, all those years after Arthur informed him of his betrayal. Potentially realising the error of his ways, or maybe even just losing the plot altogether, Dutch then turns his gun on Micah, leaving him open for John to finish off for good.
It's bloody, and somewhat anticlimactic, but that's kind of the point. Revenge is cyclical for the Marstons, and it's this act of vengeance that eventually begets the beginning of Red Dead Redemption, which only makes it all the more tragic.
