Red Dead Redemption 2: 11 Most Shocking Story Moments
4. Dutch Leaves Arthur For Dead
There comes a point in Red Dead Redemption 2 where Dutch Van der Linde's mask begins to slip. What was once an inspirational, caring and radical figure had become a shallow hypocrite who loathed dissent, which comes to ahead during John Marston's incarceration at Sisika Penitentiary.
Arthur, heeding Abigail's warning that John could be hanged when Dutch didn't, joins Sadie to break him out. Once they do, John reveals his suspicions that Dutch actively let him get captured, and it's one confirmed when he later leaves Arthur for dead after manipulating Eagle Flies to attack the northernly oil fields, which then results in Eagle Flies' death too.
It's a moment that cements just how far gone Dutch now is, and how his 'family' are actually nothing but expendable figures to him. It also proves to be a watershed moment for Arthur, who from that point on resolves to save as many members of the gang as possible.
