If you wanted to unwind in Red Dead Redemption, your options were sort of limited. You could explore the frontier, in which case you'd open yourself up to attacks from bandits and wildlife, or just stay in town and enjoy a drink at the local saloon. Neither option really tapped into the idea that you were putting your feet up and having a moment of two away from the old ultra-violence of the frontier, but that looks to be something Rockstar are addressing this time around too.

With twice the map comes twice the amount of opportunities for players to relax in a given area of their choice. Stage-shows can be attended, food can be eaten and Arthur can even take a soak with a nice glass of red to end the day. Returning for the prequel are also the various bar-games from the first RDR, including poker and five-finger-fillet, while players will also be given the opportunity to mingle with their camp; you can take your group into town, go dancing, or just mingle with strangers as you see fit.

It's a great way of bringing the environment to life, especially since a lot of open-worlds can be quite sterile. But there's actually something else Rockstar have done to take elevate that sense of exploration...
