In an effort to encourage exploration, it looks as though Rockstar have decided to populate Red Dead 2's world with new secret locations and quests. Fans of 2010's first Red Dead sequel will no doubt recall the 'I Know You' side-mission, and it seems as though the studio are looking to tap into that same sense of surprise for the sequel. (On that note, could it be possible that we see the Strange Man in this prequel? It could happen!)

The latest gameplay video mentioned that there would be "secrets" for the player to find, and showed Arthur Morgan pulling back a bookcase to reveal a secret location, before cutting to a different location where he breaks up a fight between two escaped convicts. There's no word currently on how many of these secrets will be in the game, but don't expect them to be on the mini-map come October 26th.

The period is there to be explored, and it would be frankly brilliant (horrifying?) to have players accidentally stumble into the hotel of one H. H. Holmes. Either way, it's great to see Rockstar find yet another way to incentivise exploration, as if the world itself wasn't already beautiful enough.
