Red Dead Redemption 2 Revisted: 10 Awesome Details You Missed

8. Catherine Braithwaite's Body Lingers

Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar

In the game's third chapter, Arthur becomes acquainted with Catherine Braithwaite, matriarch of the Braithwaite Family, one of the two major families in the Lemoyne region.

Their meeting comes as a result of the Van der Linde Gang establishing a working relationship with the Gray Family, the Braithwaite's fierce rivals and second major family operating in the area.

Mrs. Braithwaite then seemingly starts a business relationship with the gang, initially revolving around her moonshine racket, but mostly uses them to deal damage to the Gray Family's business, before betraying them by kidnapping John's son Jack.

When the gang arrive at Braithwaite Manor to retrieve Jack, a huge firefight breaks out, with major casualties falling to the Braithwaite side as all the matriarch's sons are killed. The gang then set fire to the entire estate and leave, but not before a distraught Catherine runs back into the burning Manor, resulting in her death.

Gnarly enough, but should the player return, they will find the crispy remains of Mrs. Braithwaite occupying the dilapidated main hallway where her empire crumbled and where she perished, still affixed with her glamorous brooch (which is very lootable btw).
