Red Dead Redemption: Who Should Play Who In A Live Action Adaptation

5. Hosea Matthews - Kevin Bacon

Red Dead Redemption 2 Jon Bernthal
Warner Bros. Television

The Character: Because RDR2 was a prequel, players knew not everyone was getting out of the game alive, but it was never more obvious than Dutch's second-in-command and most trusted advisor, Hosea Matthews.

As the voice of reason for the first half of the game, Hosea tries desperately to pull Dutch away from risky ventures like robbing Leviticus Cornwall, or parlaying with Colm O'Driscoll.

His presence among the camp is much needed when Dutch's plate-spinning plans start to go haywire. Which makes it all the more a shame when in Chapter Four, he's executed by the Pinkertons and the one person keeping Dutch in check disappears, leaving a power vacuum for Micah to step into.

The Actor: Hollywood acting legend Kevin Bacon doesn't need to prove anything when it comes to playing most of his roles. Over four decades, he's taken on a multitude of roles and played them brilliantly - sometimes outshining other leading actors on screen.

A role like Hosea would ask for a more reserved Kevin Bacon. The actor's swagger on screen borders on Nicolas Cage vibes, but with the right direction, he could absolutely nail the role of Hosea Matthews.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
