Resident Evil: 10 Best Movie Characters

8. Leon S. Kennedy

Alice Resident Evil Retribution
Screen Gems

Portrayed By: Johann Urb

Featured In: Retribution, The Final Chapter

It may have taken five films, but the inclusion of Leon Kennedy was always a given for the Resident Evil film series, and well worth the wait. Way back at the end of 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse, it was teased that Leon had been killed in action due to the actions of Jill Valentine.

As one of the big hitters of the games, audiences weren’t convinced that this was all we would see of the fallen police officer and Leon was a welcome addition to Retribution, forming part of Wesker's rescue team. Urb's portrayal of Leon became instantly likable and fulfilled the dashing hero stereotype, and added some much-needed romantic interest to the later films.

We always knew Leon was coming, but as we still know relatively little about him, his mystery makes him a key member to how the franchise will round off. Sullen and broody, but more emotional and caring, Leon makes a welcome change to the one-dimensional men which have bogged down an overzealous cast.

Only Leon could take on a T-Virus Rain Ocambo with shattered bones all over the place. Sure to be a major part of The Final Chapter, and just like his game counterpart, the live-action Leon appears to have some past relationship with Ada Wong, meaning together they could make the franchise's greatest couple.
