Resident Evil 2: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
7. Up: Well-Implemented Puzzles
Breaking up the shooting and stealth is the puzzles spread through the map and they offer a great deal of thought and entertainment value. Each room across the explorable areas offers what could be a piece of the puzzle that leads to you unlocking a safe or getting your hands on a much-needed weapon upgrade.
It's all implemented in a natural, organic way too. You go across the map, discovering certain doors that can only be unlocked with keys that match the design of the door and often find the missing puzzle piece within that room for another puzzle somewhere else. The game does force you to use some of your brain power, but they're also conscientious enough to place clues and hints throughout that help you decipher safe codes and item locations too.
Capcom avoids making these non-zombie challenges too complicated or too easy. There's the perfect amount of difficulty in them to keep you searching, guessing, and hunting for every puzzle piece.
