Resident Evil 3 Remake: 10 Reasons Why It Sucks

9. Too Many Chase Sequences

Resident Evil 3

Which, following on from the last point, has in turn made a lot of the encounters with the Nemesis into easily navigated chase sequences.

Granted, the initial introduction to the Nemesis and the subsequent fleeing is fine. That sets the tone of the game up perfectly: it's tense, you've gotta keep on your toes, etc.

But then another happens...

And another...

And they become more predictable as the game goes on.

There are a few occasions that you can stand your ground and fight the big'un. And yes, like the original game there are some rewards for stunning him. But outside of the few handgun parts you can acquire, the other drops are items you can go without. Shotgun ammo, for one, seems abitrary when you may end using more just to down him.

Having set pieces fly by because you're doing a generic chase sequence isn't horrifying or tense. It's just Uncharted with more tentacles.

Thankfully, we aren't reduced to Quick Time Events, but honestly it wouldn't have made much of a difference if we were.
