Resident Evil 3 Remake: 10 Things It Can Improve On

3. Dodging Still Being Fallible

Resident Evil Remake
Capcom

Resident Evil 3 gave us two firsts in its original: being able to turn 180 degrees on the spot, which seems obvious now, as well as a dodge move.

Suffice to say it wasn't always easy to pull off, with it being executed by aiming your weapon the moment an enemy strikes. That was fine: it proved the fallibility of the characters, that you couldn't escape everything that easily, and that it was more down to chance.

The remake should maintain this same degree of luck. Sure, RE2 Remake had a similar mechanic that could see you occasionally brush an enemy off, but it wasn't always guaranteed.

Keep combat tense, have players on that knife's edge of fight or flight, rather than giving us a dedicated button to spam dodge constantly. Keep it survival horror, not Soulsborne tuck and rolling with invincibility frames.

Make combat feel as tense as the latest Resi's have done, not a walk in the park... or police station... or secret lab.
