Resident Evil 3 Remake: EVERY Major Change & Missing Feature
Opening Sequence
Original:
Where best to start off with the list of Resident Evil 3 changes than the explosive opening sequence? In the 1999 original, players were treated to a brief opening cutscene to bring them up to speed, moments before Jill’s apartment blows up and she is launched into the streets of the dead.
This might’ve seemed action-packed back during the days of the PS1, but now it just feels contrived and simple. We all know that this was rushed through development, but it feels as if this was put together last minute.
Remake:
In the Remake, players now get a greater insight to what Raccoon City is going through as it starts to burn, whilst at the same time the nefarious nature of the Umbrella Corporation and just how Nemesis was deployed.
For a short time, RE3R is also playable in the first person, giving players the chance to explore Jill’s apartment and get a glimpse of her plan to take down Umbrella.
Though the biggest change to the opening is, of course, the introduction of Nemesis as he comes smashing through Jill’s apartment and chases her out of the building.
There is no quiet time anymore; no opportunity to get up to speed, because Nemesis is on the hunt for S.T.A.R.S.
