Resident Evil 4: All Ports Ranked Worst To Best
6. Switch
The Nintendo Switch has the most recent port of Resident Evil 4, released in 2019 - 14 years after the original launched. By this point, porting RE4 was almost parodical since it had popped up on nearly a dozen consoles by this point. Since previous ports had already inserted every bonus game and challenge mode one could imagine, it seemed like there was nothing left to add. Considering the Switch lacks the gyro controls of the Wii, one could argue this rendition of RE4 had gone backwards in terms of quality.
But the Switch does have some advantages. For one, this is the first time the game could run at 1080p on a Nintendo system. However, the game's biggest plus is also the most obvious - You can play it wherever you want. The Mobile Edition may have been a breakthrough in its time but there is no question it was impaired by its hardware.
For the first time, you can play the original game while you're out and about. Due to its low price, it's definitely worth purchasing RE4 on the Switch, even if you've owned it on previous systems.
