Resident Evil 4: All Ports Ranked Worst To Best
5. GameCube
The GameCube is regarded as among Nintendo's weakest consoles. Due to its lack of online capabilities, Internet access, and high-quality games, it was no surprise that its competitor, the PlayStation 2, obliterated the system in terms of sales.
Just when it appeared like Nintendo was out for the count, Resident Evil 4 was released for the GameCube, and was instantly hailed as a masterpiece. When it was ported to other systems within months (including the PS2), it proved Nintendo still had plenty of fight left in it.
But just because a game was a success doesn't mean it will stand the test of time. Considering RE4 is on far more powerful systems nowadays, does the original hold up?
Absolutely. Since Resident Evil 4 was tailored to the GameCube, the controls and flow of the gameplay is incredibly smooth, despite being on a 20-year-old console. The graphics may not be as sharp by today's standards but, as every Nintendo fan knows, this is an acceptable flaw so long as the gameplay is fluid. Even if you have RE4 on the PS4 or Xbox One, it's worth dusting off the old GameCube if you have one and give the original game another shot.
