Resident Evil 6: 10 Reasons It’s The Death of the Franchise

2. Repetition

Back when Resident Evil 3 was released, the reviews had started to reflect the fact that it was just more of the same - same basic story structure, same gameplay mechanics €“ and people started to generally lose interest. This is what sparked the massive shift in focus for Resident Evil 4. And now, exactly 3 titles later, the same exact thing is happening to the franchise. RE4 was new, shiny, exciting and was lauded as a rebirth for the series at the time, but with RE6, Capcom are falling into the old trap of repetition again. In my opinion, with their next title, they really need to start thinking about innovation or I fear the result may be that RE6 marks the beginning of the end. But hey, all good things must come to an end right? Arguably, it€™s better to burn out than fade away.
