Resident Evil 7: 10 Big Rumours That Would Save The Franchise
7. Introducing A Simpler Virus
The progenitor virus, the T-virus, the C-virus Resident Evil has had more viruses than a hypochondriac, and each new introduction adds another layer of confusion to the storyline. While some depth is not necessarily a bad thing, Capcoms go-to plot device of yet another bio-terrorism attack is in danger of getting stale. Rumours suggesting that developers are looking at past games for inspiration hopefully means that the virus will take a backseat, allowing players to focus on the gameplay rather than the storyline, which has never been the series strong point. In fact, it could mean that we wont see a virus at all. There are surely enough infected creatures or B.O.Ws out there already to see Resident Evil 7s main characters busy enough. And in some cases, that would mean the fan service of bringing back old favourites. After RE6, it is paramount that Capcom focuses on getting the gameplay spot-on, so if a simplified virus helps with that, then all the better.
