Resident Evil 7: 10 Controversial Things It Can Learn From 6

8. Character Development

The characters of the Resident Evil series are much loved by its fans. In amongst the zombie fighting and puzzle solving, Capcom have always managed to give their characters a subtle charm, formed out of their cool aesthetics and human motivations and drives. Resident Evil 6 was the first game in the series to really put these characters centre stage, and develop both their relationships and themselves as individuals. Chris and Sheva may have been a cool duo, but they lacked any real chemistry. Chris and Piers on the other hand is a bromance of the highest order. Leon, for the first time since Claire, gets another person to interact with in the form of Helena, saving him from his bemoaned "ADA, WAIT!" cries, and Jake and Sherry, over the course of their campaign, actually start to develop a romance. The death of one of those characters above really brought a tear to the eye, and that€™s how you know Resident Evil 6 did well with its cast. Resident Evil 7 absolutely has to continue on with giving characters a plot precedence. Character driven plot is the way to go; the breakout of another zombie virus can only keep audiences so interested. More Helena Harper please!
