Resident Evil 7 - 10 Crippling Issues Capcom Need To Fix

1. Bring Back Survival Horror

As most know by now, the original Resident Evil was the game that popularised Survival Horror, though the likes of Alone in the Dark and Sweet Home had first toyed with the concept. The key to the first Resi's success was a confined environment with a lack of ammo and dangerous enemies. It had atmosphere in abundance, coupled with one of the most famous jump scares in gaming history. While the change to action-oriented gameplay through and following Resi 4 worked wonders back in 2005, today many are ready for a return back to what made the series great. Capcom have already shown that they can do it with the excellent Revelations, but it's now something that needs to be reintroduced into the main series of games. Simply put, Resident Evil 7 needs a sense of dread that has been sorely lacking from the last few iterations. It needs to raise tension levels to nearly unbearable levels and it should keep them there by not overloading the player with all manner of guns and ammo that would allow them to mow through the threats presented. Dial back the action and insert a little more of the survival and the horror elements that the genre implies. So what do you think? Is there anything else that you would like to see changed for the latest Resident Evil game? Let us know in the comments!
