Resident Evil 7 - 10 Crippling Issues Capcom Need To Fix

9. No Guns For Enemies

Resident Evil is not Gears of War, despite the influence that the fourth game in the series had on Epic Games most famous production. As such, there should never be a point in a Resident Evil game where the standard undead foes can pick up a gun and start firing back. The same goes for enemies under the control of a parasite or whatever else the development team can think of as a reason for the events of the game. Unfortunately, this was completely ignored by Resident Evil 5 with the Manjini, and again in Resi 6 as some J'avo carried firearms. It was hardly brand new ground for the series as the likes of Nemesis and his rocker launcher had already put in an appearance, however back then only the most advanced and dangerous bio-weapons carried any sort of armament. In the new games, such enemies simply served to up the action quotient take away from the body horror and natural attributes that should make them unique and interesting to contend with in the first place. Getting into a protracted gun battle against a small army of enemies is not what Resident Evil should be about, and if the game is to return to its glory days it needs to slow things down a little and really take advantage of the disgusting beasties' individual attributes, rather than humanising them and taking away everything that makes them feel unique.
