3. It May Not Be Resident Evil 8
The first leak from last year confirmed that Capcom wasn't sure if they wanted to make this game Resident Evil 8, or to make it a spin-off title. This year's leak seems to have confirmed that the game will not be called Resident Evil 8. Instead, the game will have a "clever title".
Initially, this was disappointing news, as many of the spin-offs have been more cynical cash-ins or simply not up to the quality you expect from Resident Evil. Games such as Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, and the early Survivor/Gaiden games all seemed to have been rushed to cash in on the franchise without much work needed. Genres that didn't suit Resident Evil were covered in its trappings and forced to pretend to be something they're not.
But there's still hope. The two Revelations games are fantastic returns to what made Resident Evil so much fun in the first place. Meanwhile, Code Veronica is one of the great Resident Evil games, continuing the story in interesting ways and bringing back some fan favourites to face one of the longest campaigns in the history of the series.
Just because the game may be a spin-off, it doesn't mean it won't be excellent.
