Resident Evil 8 Village Review: 8 Ups & 2 Downs
1. It Peaks Too Early
Finding faults with Village was no easy task. By now if you hadn’t realised this is one of, if not the best Resident Evil game to date. And in a world in which so many Triple-A games come in hot or downright broken, it is a miracle that my time with Village was bug-free.
One aspect that has to be pointed out is that this game peaks too early in a number of ways. More so narratively than in terms of actual gameplay, it is hard to go into specifics without spoiling things.
But that being said, this one opens so damn strong and continues to ramp up the fear factor, as well as the intrigue. Village is one of the more mysterious entries in Resident Evil, and some of the payoffs are well worth the wait. Along the way though, there are some pacing beats that bring it down, if only slightly.
