2. Proper Links To The Series

From the first showing at E3 2016, Resident Evil 7 seemed like it had no bearing in the mainline series - which considering the franchise's rich history of characters and locales, was a mistake.

In actuality, the only returning character is Chris Redfield at the end of the story, and this raised more questions than it answered. Resident Evil 8 should really attempt to include characters like Chris and Leon into the story, linking them together with Ethan and Mia.

This would go a long way in making Resident Evil 7 feel like part of the franchise, as so far it feels like a completely different entity. Fans have grown to love both these characters and their world, and it only feels fair to unite the fans of the old with the those of the new.
