9. Actual Zombies

Even though most titles in the Resident Evil series stray away from using the term "zombie", it's undeniable that the series is defined by them. That's why they need to appear in the next entry in the series.

The Molded made for a new take on the classic Resident Evil villain, looking nothing like the classic enemies we'd all seen before. They acted in the same shambling manner, but the different look made them feel truly unique. They matched perfectly for the themes of the story, working well to represent the danger of Eveline's bio-terrorism powers.

It's for this reason that they can't return for the sequel. Molded only really made sense for the storyline of RE7, and having them return would potentially undermine everything that happened. The Molded also weren't the most interesting enemies, mostly looking the same aside for a few minuscule variations.

This leaves the door wide open for the return of zombies. They're more visually interesting, make sense from a story perspective - given the presumed return of Umbrella - and are more fun to kill in hordes. Resident Evil just isn't the same without them.
