Resident Evil: Ranking Every Major Protagonist Worst To Best

2. Jill Valentine

Debuting with Chris in the very first Resident Evil, most players then (and still today) gravitated towards Jill Valentine for one main reason: she made the game easier. Starting out with a gun as opposed to a knife, extra inventory spaces and a lockpick, Jill - the master of unlocking - made life that little bit easier for new players.

Of course, while this gave her a bit of a one up in comparison to Chris, it's not the only reason she became so popular. Jill's story in that first game was memorable for both good and bad; her interactions with Barry Burton - Jill sandwiches and all - became the stuff of legend, but even without that cheese it could be argued her story was the better of the two in that original title.

Jill only got better from that first outing as well, turning up again as the lead of Resident Evil 3 to battle Nemesis, and shedding her iconic original get up for a brand new look and supporting role in Resident Evil 5. Through countless redesigns, the fans have always loved her - even when she was turned into a mind-controlled terrorist.
