Resident Evil Remaster: 10 Things Newcomers Need To Know
2. Forget What You Already Knew
The REmake doesn't drastically alter the original game but there are some big changes to the way the player progresses through the game that will instantly be noticed by veteran players. Previously, the first major puzzle of the game saw players gathering four crests to open the back door of the mansion and progress to the outside section of the game. In the remake, players instead have to gather four Death Masks and place them in an already accessible outdoor location: doing this opens up more of the Mansion's grounds. Another example of these changes is the order and manner in which the player acquires the keys needed to unlock doors. The Armor Key is obtained far earlier here; a False Key is required as grabbing the key will set off a trap, designed to kill any who dare pick up the key item. These changes are relatively minor but for experienced Resi pros, it will take some time to unlearn everything and start again from scratch. Of course, that's to be expected, given the massive changes Capcom made to the remake, but it'll still be a bit of a shock for returning players.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
