Resident Evil Remaster: 10 Things Newcomers Need To Know

1. Zombies Don't Stay Dead For Long

Zombies are terrifying in Resident Evil. They corner the player, have a good nibble on their shoulder and leave them hurting. With limited ammo and health supplies (especially on harder difficulties), this can be a real nuisance - happily though, once they're dead, they're dead for good. Not anymore: the biggest, most exciting change to the Resident Evil remake is the introduction of the Crimson Heads - zombies that have gone through a second mutation, triggered by a period of dormancy. Basically, when a zombie is killed and left lying on the ground, this second mutation kicks in after a period of time and they become a Crimson Head: faster, stronger and far more aggressive. The first encounter with a Crimson Head is genuinely shocking; seeing a zombie suddenly spring up and move with speed and purpose is unnerving. Their inclusion was a genius move by Capcom; the player will always be wary when moving near 'dead' zombies after this first encounter. The best (worst?) part is that any zombie in the game can become a Crimson Head after a period of time. To prevent it, the player has to blow their head off or set them alight with the Lighter, in classic survival horror fashion though, there's a limited amount of Lighter fuel found in the game. The genius of the Resident Evil remake is its ability to still shock and stun old school players. Crimson Heads are a great addition to the game; they're sure to unsettle anybody playing through the Remake for the first time. Are you excited to play the Resident Evil REmake? I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
