Resident Evil Remaster: 10 Things Newcomers Need To Know

4. It Adds A Horrifying New Back Story

Revisiting the original Resident Evil allowed Capcom to add more depth to the game, creating links between the narrative of the series and offering a better look at the real horrors Umbrella cooked up while hidden underground. It also allowed them to introduce a new back story into the mix; one which has really become a fan favourite, making the whole remake worthwhile in the eyes of some. George Trevor is the architect who designed the Mansion (so you have him to thank for the labyrinth look) and his diaries can be found scattered throughout the game, offering an insight into his life or lack-thereof. Far more tragic though is the story of his wife and daughter, Jessica and Lisa Trevor. Both were tortured and experimented on by Umbrella as they began their work on the various viruses seen throughout the series. Lisa Trevor is encountered a couple of times throughout the remake and every appearance is pretty freaking terrifying. Thanks to Umbrella's experiments, she's near invincible, meaning the player has no option but to flee her; she's pretty intimidating in that regard. Discovering the story behind Lisa Trevor is the truly horrifying aspect of the character though. Capcom clearly wanted to make sure the player despises Umbrella this time around and it works a treat. It's definitely worth playing through the remake, just to discover this character and why fans have quickly grown attached to her tragic story.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
